What is RACEtrack?

RACEtrack® is the continuing education (CE) tracking platform run by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB). It runs on software from CE Broker, a well-known CE compliance company. Veterinarians and veterinary technicians use it to keep all their CE records in one central database. Licensing boards and CE providers are connected to the same system. RACEtrack is tied to AAVSB's RACE (Registry of Approved Continuing Education) program. RACE-approved programs are accepted without extra approval by 62 North American regulatory bodies. When you complete RACE-approved CE, the provider can report your attendance straight into your account. You don't have to chase certificates or enter those courses yourself. CE from other sources can be added by hand, with supporting documents uploaded. For licensees, a free basic account lets you see your course history, report completed CE, upload certificates and search for courses. It also shows when you have met your renewal requirements. You can manage several licenses in one account, which is useful if you hold licenses in more than one state. Paid upgrades add a transcript that lists required, completed and remaining hours as a checklist, and a premium concierge option comes with a personal assistant who helps you find and report CE. Boards that take part get staff accounts for managing licensee lists and running CE audits. Staff can filter licensees by profession, license status and renewal cycle, create bulk audits or import custom audit files, assign audits to staff with deadlines, generate compliance reports and keep a paperless audit history. Boards can also review CE provider applications and course submissions. RACE-approved providers can submit courses for approval and report completions directly into attendees' RACEtrack accounts. Many providers now handle this reporting for attendees, which cuts down on manual work for practice teams. RACEtrack is for veterinarians and credentialed veterinary technicians who want one organized record of CE across renewal cycles and licenses. It helps most in states whose boards use RACEtrack data for renewals or audits. Practice owners and managers who track CE for their teams may also find it useful as a central reference. RACEtrack is a tracking and reporting tool, not a CE marketplace or learning platform. Board participation varies by state. For example, the California Veterinary Medical Board stopped using RACEtrack to verify CE for audits in August 2024 and now asks licensees to upload certificates through its own BreEZe system. Check your own board's renewal and audit requirements, and keep your own copies of CE certificates even if you use RACEtrack. The basic account is free for licensees. Paid tiers add transcript and concierge features. Check current pricing with AAVSB.
